About us

Who we are

WESHDA is the abbreviation of Women Education, Savings, Health and Development Association.

It is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-political and non-sectarian, voluntary development organization was established on 1st January 2005 aiming to promote socio-economic emancipation of the underprivileged in the Southwestern part of the country in Bangladesh. It is founded by Md. Moniruzzaman Monir who is a dedicated social worker. He has contributed to numerous charity initiatives for underprivileged people in the Southwestern part of the country in Bangladesh. He has been engaged in a number of charity works total Bangladesh.

Mrs. Hasina Khatun is one of the dedicated development workers along with a group of local workers established WESHDA in 2005 and started to implement development program activities in his own village’s area under Khulna District. Now WESHDA has achieved huge experience by various programs with the help of Bangladeshi and abroad donors. WESHDA has obtained NGO bureau Registration.

The scenario’s of WESHDA ‘s working area is that the women are socially disadvantaged, little no access to health facilities and economically vulnerable. They are denied the legal, human and democratic rights and employment opportunities. It is fact that the rights of women and children are violated in family, community and institutions. Most of the Women and children have affected by malnutrition. On the other hand health services are quite inadequate and they have no proper heath education. We thin; the participatory process is the way and means to develop the socio-economic condition of the people right now.

The target group of WESHDA is mainly the marginal women and men specially who an unutilized resources suitable for agriculture, aquaculture and small non-farm income generating activities for their sustenance but not able to use the resource for their development or secured livelihood due to lack of proper guidelines and logistic supports. This group of people are usually found to migrate in urban areas and responsible for deterioration of urban environment living in uncontrolled and unhygienic urban slums. The groups are not capable also to explore and develop their existing inherent potentials for their sustainable socio-economic and environmental development.

Since the inception of its experience WESHDA has already been implemented different prevention and awareness related education, health, legal aid programs and other development programs in the different areas both in rural and urban areas. The targeted people of WESHDA are poor distressed and the marginalized classes of the society.
