Women economic empowerment

WESHDA is committed to promoting women empowerment in rural areas such as Batiaghata, Chalna, and Dumuria in Khulna, Bangladesh. In these communities, women often face challenges including limited access to education, economic opportunities, and decision-making power. WESHDA works to transform this reality by creating inclusive platforms where women can develop skills, confidence, and leadership.

The organization provides training on income-generating activities such as agriculture, small businesses, handicrafts, and livestock rearing. Through these initiatives, women gain financial independence and contribute actively to their household and community economies. WESHDA also raises awareness on women’s rights, health, and education, ensuring that women are informed and empowered to make decisions for themselves and their families.

Girl’s education

Our organization, committed to promoting women’s rights and empowerment in Satkhira, Bangladesh, recognizes the transformative power of girl’s education. Education is a fundamental right and a critical tool for breaking the cycle of poverty and inequality. We focus on ensuring access to quality education for girls, raising awareness about its importance, and addressing barriers like early marriage and financial constraints. By empowering girls through education, we aim to build a future where they can lead, contribute to society, and reach their full potential.

Livelihood and food security

Our organization, dedicated to women’s rights and empowerment in Satkhira, Bangladesh, prioritizes livelihood and food security as vital components of sustainable development. We work to enhance women’s access to income-generating opportunities, vocational training, and resources for agricultural and small business activities. By empowering women to contribute to household and community food security, we aim to ensure consistent access to nutritious food, reduce poverty, and foster resilience against economic and environmental challenges.

Women Agriculture and Seed Bank

The Women Agriculture and Seed Bank initiative of WESHDA focuses on empowering rural women in Khulna, Bangladesh, by enhancing their role in sustainable agriculture and biodiversity conservation. This thematic area recognizes women as key contributors to farming systems and aims to strengthen their knowledge, skills, and economic independence.

Through this program, WESHDA supports women farmers by providing training on climate-resilient agricultural practices, organic farming, and sustainable land use. The initiative also promotes the preservation and exchange of indigenous seeds by establishing community-based seed banks managed by women. These seed banks ensure access to quality seeds, protect local crop diversity, and reduce dependency on external seed sources.
